Measuring Hydrogen Sulfide in Catalyst Pre-Sulfiding
Catalyst 'presulfiding'is a practice which reduces the extent of early catalyst deactivation by preventing coking (carbon deposits). The procedure involves passing a gas stream containing e.g. H2S over the catalyst or into the reaction feedstock.
What is Sulphiding?
After a hydrotreater or hydrocracker reactor is loaded with fresh catalyst, the activation step, referred to as “sulfiding”, is accomplished by reacting the metal oxides with hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the presence of hydrogen.
What is a sulfiding agent?
Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS) and TBPS 454 are sulfiding agents that are used to transform metal oxide species to a metallic sulfide crystalline phase in situ for hydrotreating catalysts.
