Is Emgality Dangerous

Emgality may give you more migraine-free days or help relieve your cluster headache symptoms. But while using Emgality, some people may experience mild reactions at the injection site (such as pain or swelling). And in rare cases, Emgality may cause a serious or life threatening allergic reaction.

What does Emgality do to the brain?

Emgality works by blocking the action of a protein in your body called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). CGRP can play a role in causing migraine and cluster headaches. By stopping CGRP from working, Emgality helps prevent migraine headaches and treat cluster headaches.

Who should not take Emgality?

You should not use Emgality if you are allergic to galcanezumab. Emgality is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known whether galcanezumab will harm an unborn baby.
