He attended West Morris Mendham High School, a public school near his hometown. After graduating high school, he got into Babson College and graduated in 1999 with an entrepreneurship degree.
Career
Jamie Siminoff’s company, Phone Tag, was established in 2005. The company provided voicemail-to-text service, making it the only company in the world which offered this feature. The company was later sold off to Ditech. After the sale of Phone Tag in 2005, he used the money to start up Ring (formerly known as Doorbot)
He began Ring after he got an idea to solve home security problems by combining doorbells with camera and alarm systems. He founded the company in 2013 (worth $364,000). The innovation also came with an app that allows users to share recorded videos on social media.
He appeared four times on Shark Tank, a TV show where entrepreneurs/startups pitch their business ideas. In exchange for 10% of the company’s ownership (worth $7 million), Jamie asked for $70,000 from the stakeholders. Jamie’s pitch, however, left the investors unconvinced. He also turned down a loan offer from Kevin O’Leary, to the surprise of viewers who had developed an interest in his innovative idea and had also helped improve his sales.
