Traci and her sisters formed The Braxtons in the late 1980s and signed a deal with Arista Records in 1989. Their first song, Good Life, was released in 1990 under the record label. This song was a success and made it to the R&B/Hip-Hop charts at number 79.

It would have done better, but due to their age differences, it was affected by marketing flaws. This led to the termination of the deal. Toni Braxton was later accepted as a solo artist by La Face Records in 1991.

Traci Braxton began her career as a soloist in 2013 and released her debut album, Crash & Burn, under e One Music and Soul World Entertainment. In 2015, the sisters reunited with a song titled Braxton Family Christmas.
