Titled “CBeebies star Mr Tumble dies in car crash,” the article alleged that he had collided with a lorry while en route to a charity event. To add a veneer of authenticity, a fabricated quote from CBeebies expressed profound sorrow over the supposed loss.
Despite its clear fabrication, the hoax found an audience on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Some fans were shocked, saddened, or even angered by the misinformation, leading to a range of emotional reactions in the comments section.

Officially, CBeebies and Justin Fletcher did not respond directly to the rumor, presumably to avoid lending it more credibility. However, they effectively debunked it through their actions. New episodes of Something Special, featuring Mr. Tumble and his companions, continued to be produced and aired. Their social media accounts regularly posted updates, showcasing a lively and thriving Mr. Tumble.
For instance, on July 16, 2021, the official YouTube channel of Mr Tumble and Friends uploaded a video titled “Mr Tumble Loves Animals!” where Mr Tumble interacted with various animals, accumulating millions of views, likes, and comments from fans. On July 3, 2021, another video titled “Mr Tumble’s Big One Hour Compilation!” showcased his best moments, songs, and nursery rhymes, also garnering millions of views. Similarly, on May 15, 2021, a video titled “Mr Tumble Toys Compilation for Children!” displayed Mr Tumble playing with his beloved toy friends, further evidence of his lively presence.
