Well, it has been a month since our last PS Vita and PS TV Mid-Month Release Roundup, and the Vita Scene shows no signs to slowing down anytime soon (just take a look at our ever-growing PS Vita Resource Section). Another 30 days has brought us many, many more releases for end-users and developers alike. Just in these past several weeks we have seen many amazing releases for the Vita, including: the long awaited release of a plugin (GePatch) that allows for some PSP games to run in full resolution on the PS Vita, a port of Super Mario 64 that is not to be confused with an emulator , and speaking of emulators we saw some major updates and improvements to the Nintendo64 emulator (Daedalus X64), and the list continues on and on.

This month I decided to do a little something different, and I have created a couple of great looking lists for our members and readers. If you take a look below, you will see I have put together a collection of August and September releases in chronological order. Next to the name of each release, you will find a brief description of what the release is or does. And if you click the NAME of the release, you will be taken to a page that includes more information and downloads about that specific homebew. Also, be sure to flip. ​

Ok, so you need to downgrade PSP firmware so you can get all the games and movies you could possibly dream of. Before you begin you will need a internet connection, usb cable, a PSP (naturally) & firmware downgrade software. Towards the end of the article I’ll share a few links for you to get the firmware software that you need for free and a link to reviews on the best free psp download sites.

Firstly you need to know if you are eligible to downgrade your PSP firmware. Unfortunately if your firmware is about version 3 you will have problems downgrading your firmware. For you to be able to use the your PSP for getting content of the internet your goal is to get your firmware to 1.5 or below.

OK so lets assume you have your usb cable ready on hand to downgrade your PSP firmware the next step is to find out what version you currently have. This will appear as the PSP loads on startup. Write down what version this is so when we begin the hunt for your PSP downgrade software we can make sure you get the right one.

If you get the wrong PSP downgrade software you run the risk of stuffing up you PSP for good. The only other risk that you must know of when downgrading your PSP is that upon downgrading your firmware you will void your warranty. If you do happen to make the mistake of using the wrong PSP firmware downgrade you do have the option of adding a mod chip to your unit which will cost around $100 dollars. Even if you did happen to screw up your unit and then had to go out and mod your unit. You will then have the option of looking at Thousands of games and movies for a once of fee.

How to Downgrade a PSP

Now that you have all the files and instructions necessary to downgrade your PSP, here are the instructions on how to proceed:

1. You need to disable any anti-virus programs, or any security application in your PC before you proceed with downgrading
2. Follow carefully the instructions in copying the files for downgrade in the ROOT and PHOTO directory of your PSP. (note that the instruction are included in the files that you downloaded)
3. Plug in the AC Adaptor and connect it with your PSP
4. Scroll over to the “Photos” menu, press X, and scroll down.
5. If the console of your PSP hits a blank screen with letters and numbers on it, or freeze, restart your PSP. If it happens again, try doing a hard reset the holding up the power switch until the unit turns off.
6. When the PSP boots up, scroll over to your memory stick under “Game” and run the 1.5 US update which you copied earlier. The update will load but will inadvertently fail at 99%. Never fear since this is supposed to happen.
7. Restart the PSP when it does until the screen turns blue. Press O, and you are done!

If you see a 1.50 firmware logo after your PSP reboots, then you have successfully downgraded your PSP, and access its amazing features.
