Sonia Forbes is an English actress and former wife of James Nesbitt. Her popularity has always been attached to her marriage with her ex-husband and known for her roles in Witness Against Hitler and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey among many other movie roles.

Biography Of Sonia Forbes

Sonia Clare Forbes Adams was born in 1965 in Southstoke, Bath, Somerset. Her father is the popular Reverend Sir Timothy Forbes Adams. Sonia’s mother, Penelope Munday was also an actress. Her childhood was spent alongside her three sisters Victoria, Kate, and Lucy.

She passed through the educational system by attending Lewiston Convent School in Dorset, England in 1982. Sonia continued her studies at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

As the youngest child of the Forbes-Adams family, she followed her sister’s footsteps in stride. They grew up in a Christian home and even sang in the choir often having girls arguments with their father. Their cordial relationship is evident as he visited Sonia in New Zealand when he was 87 years old.

Her father gave up his acting career to answer the Christian call as a pastor.

Sonia Forbes Marriage To James Nesbitt

She and her ex-husband first met in 1989 when James went for the final callback for Hamlet. They two started dating but later parted ways.

With love rooting in their corner, they reunited and tied the knot in 1994. They were together for many years before splitting in 2013. Their divorce was finalized in 2016 bringing to an end a marriage of 22 years.

Their divorce was due to Nesbitt’s extramarital affairs and his two-year stay in New Zealand. The affairs strained their relationship till they could not weather the storm.

Though some point fingers at alleged affairs with two women before co-star Kimberly Joseph and Irish model Amanda Bunker, the truth is still not known.
