Gwyneth Paltrow’s parents are an American celebrity couple Blythe Danner (81) and Bruce Paltrow who led decades of their lives in showbiz. The parents of two were married for almost 33 years from 1969 until Bruce’s death in 2002.

In terms of their individual contributions to Hollywood and the entertainment industry, Gwyneth’s mother Blythe is a two-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress. She is famous for roles in Butterflies are Free, Will & Grace, Meet the Parents, and Huff (2004-2006). On the part of Gwyneth’s father, he was a TV and film director and producer.

Blythe Danner is a 81-year-old American well-established actress and sister of actor Harry Danner. According to IMDB, the 1943-born entertainer is the first actress to be nominated for 3 Emmy awards in the same year (2005). At the time, she was nominated for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie, Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series (won), and Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series.

She has been in the spotlight since the 1960s and has played several roles to claim her fame and fortune. Blythe started her career as a stage actor. In 1965, she played Laura Wingfield in a stage play, The Glass Menagerie. In 1967 and 1968, she featured in other dramas, Three Sisters and Cyrano de Bergerac.

The Pennsylvania-born actress further appeared in TV series N.Y.P.B (1968), Columbo (1972), Adam’s Rib (1973), St. Elsewhere (1984), Tattinger’s (1988-1989), Cruel Doubt (1992), Great Performance (1975-1993), Huff (2004-2006), and American Gods (2001).

In movies, Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother has also made a huge mark that would definitely outlive her. She played roles in 1776 (1972), Futurewood (1976), Meet the Parents (2000), The Last Kiss (2006), and I’ll See You in My Dreams (2015).

Who is Gwyneth Paltrow’s Father, Bruce Paltrow?

As earlier stated, Bruce Paltrow was in the entertainment industry with major contributions as a director and producer. He was also a businessman and owner of a restaurant, Gordon’s in Aspen.

Despite his studying painting at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana, he chose the life of being a director in the late 1960s.

The Eastern European Jewish descent filmmaker started his professional directing career on stage in New York before moving to TV. He later produced the TV series The White Shadow and St. Elsewhere.

The 1943-born Democrat produced and directed Duets in 2000 and it featured his daughter Gwyneth. This became his last work before his death on October 3, 2002, at the age of 58. He died from complications due to pneumonia while vacationing for Gwyneth’s birthday in Rome, Italy.

About four years following his demise, his wife Blythe, in cooperation with The Oral Cancer Foundation set up a fund in his name. This was in order to create awareness of oral cancer, to detect the sickness early, and to patient support functions and research.

Moreso, the famous Fix You song by Coldplay was written in his memory to help his daughter Gwyneth through her grief. It was written by the band’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin who is also Gwyneth’s husband at the time.

Also, the band dedicated their 2005 album “X&Y” to him.
