Chris Quilala was born in Redding, California on November 22, 1982, to the family of Phillip and Lisa Quilala. He grew up with two other siblings – an older sister Alicia Marie and a younger sister Rebecca Joy.
Quilala is known to have developed a passion for music as a kid. He started playing drums when he was 12 years old and in 1996, while he was 14 years old, Chris joined Jesus Culture; a Christian revivalist youth-oriented organization that was formed at Bethel Church of Redding, California, U.S.A. He began his musical career as the group’s drummer and guitarist. However, he later became a vocalist as well.
Chris has contributed immensely to the several albums produced by the group. These include Everything (2006), Come Away (2010), and Let it Echo (2014), just to mention a few.
More so, the 41-year-old released his first solo album titled Split The Sky in 2016 and it peaked at No. 8 on the US Christian Music chart. He has also released several singles and has worked with many notable artists over the years.

Sometime in 2008, Chris met Alyssa Gulino at a church function in Pasadena, and developed a special liking for her. At the time they met, Chris was 25 years old while Alyssa was a 17-year-old high school graduate and aspiring model. The lovers dated for 1 year and were engaged for 3 months before getting married on July 12, 2009, and their union was blessed with 5 kids out of which they lost 1 in December 2014. Their kids are Ella, Aria, Jethro (late), Liv, and Maddex.
While Chris and Alyssa are known to have been a very committed couple, they decided to go their separate ways in 2019. The main reason for their divorce has not been clearly stated but several sources have alleged Alyssa may have gotten tired of Chris’ absence caused by many concert tours and travels.
