Who Is Rush Limbaugh?

Once called the Doctor of Democracy, Rush Limbaugh has been said by many a knowledgeable person to be the founder of AM radio.  Early in his radio days, Limbaugh pledged to be a force to be reckoned with by the general radio audience.  He certainly was the host of his show as a political commentator.

Early Days of Rush Limbaugh

Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on January 12, 1951.  His father was Rush Hudson Limbaugh Jr, a United States fighter pilot and, at that time, a prominent political figure in his own right.

Rush’s mother was Mildred Carolyn Armstrong Limbaugh.  The family also included younger brother David Limbaugh.  Rush Limbaugh Sr, Rush’s paternal grandfather, was a Missouri prosecuting attorney who served in the Missouri House of Representatives for a time.  The future king of talk radio was born into a politically active family, as one can deduce.
