As the story goes, Calvin Lane was a cub scout and had gone on a scouting trip with the rest of the troupe. In the course of the trip, he and some of the other youngsters became thirsty and their leader told them to drink water from a stream. Unbeknownst to them, the stream was contaminated by the carcasses of dead cows.
Some of the young people that drank the water died but Calvin Lane managed to survive. He, however, contracted spinal meningitis which affected his hearing for two years and his sight for a year. It was really a tough thing for a teenager but Lane was able to fully recover with the passage of time.

Following his recovery, Calvin Lane managed to continue his education before striking out to pursue a career. The East Texas native was able to build a modest career as an actor, model, and spokesperson in Hollywood. The very first project that Calvin Lane appeared in was the TV series, Walker, Texas Ranger, in 1995. He then went on to appear in a handful of other productions namely Ghostbite (1996), Going to California (2002), and One Less Tear (2003).
