Joe Fann Obituary, Death – On December 2, 2023, Tullahoma bid farewell to a remarkable man, Joe Donald Fann, aged 88, who passed away surrounded by his family at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. Born in McMinnville, Tennessee, Joe was not only a high school valedictorian but also the captain of his varsity football team. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958.
Joe’s professional journey began at the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in Tullahoma, where he started as a Co-op student during college. His dedication and passion for engineering and management spanned a fulfilling career until his retirement in 1996. In 1959, Joe married Linda Neely Harless, embarking on a journey defined by love, commitment, and service.
Family was at the core of Joe’s life, and he took an active role in the lives of his four children, serving as a coach, scout master, or administrator whenever needed. His devotion extended to his church family, where he served as an Elder for over 30 years at the Bel-Aire Church of Christ and later at the church of Christ at Cedar Lane.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lee and Novella Fann, and his sister, Peggy Sue Fann, Joe is survived by his loving wife, Linda Harless Fann; sister, Linda Fann Nixon; daughter, Gwen Fann Davis; three sons, Joey Fann (Nicole), David Fann (Anne-Geri’), and Michael Fann (Christie); and nine grandchildren.
Visitation to honor Joe’s memory will take place on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at the church of Christ at Cedar Lane from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm, officiated by Minister Michael Fann. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Joe’s memory be made to the Blue Grass Christian Camp at 7463 Athens Boonesboro Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40509. As we celebrate Joe’s life, let us remember the enduring legacy of love, leadership, and service he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace.
