Why are animatronics so scary?

There’s just something so inhuman about them (especially the Gen III/FNaF 1 ones). I think it’s the low eyelids and the deep-set eyes which are the creepiest to me since it puts them straight into the uncanny valley. Honestly, they’re much scarier when they don’t move, and they just stare and stare.
