Montgomery Clift was a handsome man. However, his sensitive, tortured soul persona made him an eternal boy, which negates any sexual magneticism and makes him less attractive, IMO.

Rock Hudson, in print, was no doubt a handsome man; however, bland. BUT, in moving pictures, especially in his 1960s comedies, he exuded charm, strength, and sexual appeal, which made him even more attractive.

I'd say Rock over the long run. Monty was only beautiful when young and his accident and drinking ruined his looks early.

I find Rock Hudson very attractive but bland and boring. Similar to how I feel about Henry Cavill and Matt Bomer.

Clift had more personality, very expressive eyes and a shy smile. I do think like Marlon Brando (who got too fat) and Warren Beatty (who got too plastic looking), Monty's beauty peaked too early (mainly the accident and drinking).

Clift has a sweet, innocent face but you can sense he's deeply troubled and moody. His predecessor James Dean had that similar appeal. Cute but damaged.

Why are they even being compared? Is it because both were gay.

It makes more sense to compare Rock to Tab Hunter or Troy Donahue. Montgomery should be compared more to James Dean or Paul Newman.

That all being said, I have a legitimate low grade crush on Monty. He’s just so troubled and obviously vulnerable you want to take care of him and try to make it all okay. Rock is more of a fuckbuddy type.
