Directed by Jose Nestor Marquez, this 2015 film sees King as protagonist Sophie Clé. The daughter of billionaire tech mogul Jack Clé (Colm Feore), Sophie starts questioning her own memories about her mother's death when a stranger kidnaps her.
The film earned mostly negative reviews from critics, with 'The New York Times' calling the acting "uninspired," while 'The Los Angeles Times' praised the film's unexpected conclusion.
6 King's Performance In 'The Birth Of A Nation'
King's turn as Cherry Turner in period drama 'The Birth of a Nation' garnered way more favorable reviews.
Presented at Sundance in 2016, the film tells the story of Nat Turner, an enslaved man who led a rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia, in 1831. King plays Turner's wife Cherry, a role that earned praise from critics and a nomination at the 2017 NAACP Image Awards.
Alongside King, the film also stars director and writer Nate Parker as Turner, as well as Armie Hammer, Colman Domingo and Gabrielle Union.
