When people talk about movies, they tend to express some unique and interesting opinions. However, there is one opinion about the current state of films that is so ubiquitous that it gets stated in one form or another during most movie discussions, films aren’t as good as they used to be. On top of that idea being tedious at this point, it also is grounded in a false comparison. After all, people often compare the best movies from decades past, since they remember most, to the average or even worst movies of today.
When it comes to the 1980s, there were many bad and mediocre teen movies that people have since forgotten about. On the other hand, The Breakfast Club still has loads of fans who want to know what went on behind the scenes of the movie’s filming. Even though there are many reasons why The Breakfast Club remains so special, it is important to remember how important the film’s cast was to its success. For example, the movie would have failed if Anthony Michael Hall wasn’t so good at being vulnerable. Sadly, however, Hall has had some issues in the years since including the time he allegedly attacked a neighbor for no reason.
Anthony Michael Hall’s Violent Incident
When regular people are out and they catch a glimpse of a star they like, most of them will gawk or approach the star to request an autograph or photo. Fortunately, there are a lot of celebrities who are happy to indulge their fan’s requests with a smile on their face. On the other hand, some stars notably seem to hate their fans. As a result of that latter group, lots of people have anecdotes of stars being rude to them for one reason or another.
Of course, some regular people have had the strange experience of having a celebrity move into a home nearby where they live. In those circumstances, it typically doesn’t take too long for the star in question to become just another neighbor for people to greet when they are outside. Unfortunately for one man who lived near Anthony Michael Hall during the mid-2010s, however, it allegedly was impossible to think of the former Brat Pack star as a typical neighbor.
In November of 2016, an otherwise unknown man named Richard Samson talked to People about Anthony Michael Hall and said “it’s a scary thing living next to this guy”. Samson would go on to explain he feared the famous actor due to being attacked by Hall. “He [Hall] got into a tussle with someone else in the complex. I heard yelling out my front door and walked out to see what was going on,” Samson tells PEOPLE. “I told him, ‘You need to calm down.’ Within two seconds, he was in my face and said some very unpleasant things to me. He then shoved me and I fell to the ground.”
Samson also claimed that Hall attacked him for no real reason and the actor’s other neighbors had issues with him as well. “I just walked outside to see what the yelling was and there was an altercation with someone else in the complex and that person has chosen to be anonymous.” “I am not the only one in the complex who has had interactions with him. The police have been here before because of him,” says Samson. “It’s a scary thing living next to this guy.”
Anthony Michael Hall Faces Serious Consequences And The Aftermath
After Anthony Michael Hall allegedly shoved his neighbor to the ground and broke his wrist, it didn’t take too long for the police to get involved. Ultimately, Hall was charged with felony battery with a serious bodily injury which comes with a maximum sentence of four years behind bars. However, the prosecutor also alleged that there were special circumstances involved in the incident which meant that Hall could have been sentenced to seven years in prison.
In the end, Anthony Michael Hall pleaded no contest to shoving his neighbor and breaking his arm. As a result, he was able to avoid any time behind bars. Instead, Hall was sentenced to forty hours of community service and three years probation in September of 2017. Once it became clear that Hall wasn’t going to prison, the only question that remained was whether or not he learned a lesson from the incident. Of course, there is no way for anyone but Hall to truly know how much being charged with a crime affected him. However, given the fact that Hall was caught on camera losing it on other hotel guests just before his three years probation was set to expire, losing his temper still seemed to be an issue for him.
