Married At First Sight was originally a Danish series, but since being bought as an American reality show, it has grown into quite the spectacle. Each season, 3-5 couples are created by relationship experts who match up hopeful singles with one condition: they don't meet until they are walking down the aisle. Married in the first episode, they spend the season getting to know one another — all leading up to the series finale, where each couple must decide to either divorce or stay married. The premise is unconventional at best, but with 14 seasons under its belt, and a 15th season in the works, it doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon.
While a dozen couples from the series have found true love and are still together, most couples don't last and get divorced, either on the show or soon after. Many traditionalists have condemned the show, saying that it exploits marriage and divorce, while others see it merely as a form of cheap entertainment. But one of the most interesting couples to come on the show was back in season 10: the frustrating relationship between Meka Jones and Michael Watson. 9 First Comes Love, Then Comes Annulment
"Love" is maybe a little bit too strong of a word when describing how Meka and Michael first came together. From the moment they said "I do", they started to fight, even spending their honeymoon in separate hotels. Michael allegedly told Meka that if they did not have sex that night, he was ending the marriage, while Meka was already having issues trusting him. This became the theme of their relationship — on and off-screen — and led to the annulment that finalized their separation after the show.
8 Turbulent Romance
Every relationship has its ups and downs, but when they are constantly down, there is nowhere to go but apart. This was especially true for Meka and Michael, who could never seem to get a spark going between them. Meka admitted to having trust issues due to past relationships, while Michael continuously lied and aggravated her suspicions. Rumors after the show said that Michael tried to end things during the honeymoon, but that the show denied it, wanting to continue the drama.
