Timber wolves in Red Dead Online are one of the many animals that you’ll have to sedate, photograph, and take samples from for Harriet and your Naturalist Role. The main problem with the Red Dead Online timber wolves is that it’s difficult to figure out where they appear, especially since they spawn fairly rarely. So, in our Timber Wolf Locations RDR2 Online guide, we’re going to show you where to find the timber wolves, how to spawn them, and which Naturalist set they belong to.
How to Spawn Timber Wolves in RDR2 Online
To spawn timber wolves in Red Dead Online, you first have to be in the correct location. Their habitat is Cumberland Forest and the Grizzlies; in other words, a lot of places in Ambarino are viable spots. We’ll get to that in a minute. Also, it seems like they spawn more often at night, but we’re not 100% on that. Anyway, once you get where you need to be, we recommend using potent predator bait to increase your odds of spawning a timber wolf.
Basically, in these locations, you’re going to find groups of gray wolves, and every so often, there’s going to be a timber wolf among them. You’ll likely have to visit several locations before you spawn a timber wolf, and maybe even enter another session, much like with legendary animals. Once you do get one, you have the choice to either shoot it dead, or put it to sleep and extract a sample for Harriet. No matter what you choose to do, make sure to climb a boulder or something and fight the wolves from above, where they can’t reach you. Also, stock up on sedative ammo, because the timber wolf does not go down easy.
Where to Find Red Dead Online Timber Wolves
To find timber wolves in RDR2 Online, like we’ve said, you have to look in either of the Grizzlies or Cumberland Forest, according to their in-game entry. We got them to spawn in several locations around Ambarino, and one in the north of West Elizabeth. Specifically, we found them around Colter (which is also where the Legendary Marble Fox tends to appear), south of the Wapiti Indian Reservation, around Cotorra Springs, north of O’Creagh’s Run, etc. Check out the map below to see all the locations.
Now, it bears repeating, none of these locations are a guaranteed spawn. Odds are, you’ll have to put in the legwork until you manage to come across a timber wolf. True, it’s not as bad as some legendary animals, but they’re definitely not around every corner, either. So, good luck out there.
