James Reid was born on 11 May 1993, in Sydney, Australia. He is the son of Robert Malcolm Reid and Maria Aprilyn Marquinez. He belongs to Australian nationality and his ethnicity is mixed as his mother is Filipino whereas his father is Australian.  

His parents dissolved their married life when he was just two years old. He was raised by his father in Australia till he was 15. As a child, he was active as a gymnast and swimmer. In the year 2018, the actor played the role in Never Not Love You and Mis Granny. He currently appears in Its Showtime, which is a Philippine noontime variety show.
