Frances Rivera is a Filipino-American journalist and news anchor best known for reporting and anchoring Boston's NBC affiliate, WHDH for a decade.
Early Life, Family & Education
Frances Rivera was born in 1970, in the Philippines and was raised there along with her two siblings, brothers Andre and Marc by their parents.
The family was first moved from the Philippines to Austin, Texas and later to Dallas. Her family sent her back to the Philippines to finish her studies.
She has received a bachelor in journalism degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is of Filipino-American nationality and belongs to white ethnicity.
Career
Following her graduation, Frances Rivera returned to the United States of America and started working at in New York City.
She later worked for CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City and then for NBC affiliate in Wichita Falls, Texas.
While working for CBS News' The Morning Show, she had covered the 1996 Presidential campaign. She has also co-hosted and reported for the PBS show .
Rivera joined WHDH in Boston in 2001 and later in 2006, she was promoted to the news anchor chair. She worked for the news station for ten years until August 2011.
She served as a morning news anchor for WPIX in New York City from 2011-2013.
Rivera joined NBC News and MSNBC in February 2014 and served as the co-anchor of Thomas Roberts on MSNBC Live.
