Ken Hakuta, also known as Dr. Fad, is a Japanese-American media personality, entrepreneur, and inventor. He was popular among children when his TV show was broadcasted from 1988 to 1994.

Hakuta was born in 1951, in Seoul, South Korea. His birth name is Paik Kun and was born to Paik Nam-il, the CEO of a textile company. He was the eldest of his siblings. The family migrated to Japan in 1951, as his grandfather was accused of collaborating with the Japanese.

In the 1980s, Ken invented one of the most popular toys of his time, the Wacky Wall Walker. The toy sold over 240 million units in 1983 and became more popular when cereals from the Kellogg company contained the toys as a prize.
