What the heck is going on?

Okay, let's start at the beginning. After picking your preferred character face, you'll be thrust into the world of organ trading with very little in the way of tutorials to help you along. I'll describe everything in this section so it hopefully makes a little more sense. Don't worry, it's easy!

Basic Gameplay Loop

There are two main phases to gameplay. I'm going to call them preparation and action.

Preparation Phase

This is where you can take all of the time in the world to take a look through all of the screens presented to you. The game presents it's turns as days, and as the days go on more things will unlock on these screens. The day will never advance during this phase, and you generally don't need to be speedy or worry too much.

Action Phase

This is where you need to think on your feet and have a decent memory and game plan... Sort of. Thanks to the game's accessibility options, we can make this much easier on ourselves! During this part of the game, you'll be buying organs as they appear in the market, and mostly using them to fulfil requests from the beings who need them.

The goal of the game is to reach one of many endings by buying organs from a "live" market, and using those organs to fulfil requests (quests) given to you by aliens. As you fulfil those requests, you'll increase your trader rank and make money, allowing you to buy more expensive organs to fulfil more rewarding requests. Eventually you'll fulfil a story request and reach one of the game's endings. There are NO achievements for reaching an ending, and you CAN continue your save afterwards.

Preparation Phase in Detail

Across the bottom of the screen you'll see several tabs:

• PERSONAL is where you can view your trading stats, and track some achievement-related things such as the number of organs you have touched, the maximum length of intestines you've owned, etc. You can also change your face graphic here, and view graphs of your income and other such fun stuff.
• MARKET is where you can see the price per unit history of each organ type, and spend money investing in stocks if you like. Investing is NOT the same as buying actual organs! You're simply buying shares in that organ's market. Buy low, hang onto them for a few days, then sell high! When you buy stocks here, this page will show on subsequent days whether you'll profit from selling them or not.
• TRADERS is where you will see - eventually - other traders such as yourself that will be buying organs during the next action phase. You need to be quick to get the organs you want when going against other traders! From this screen, you can bribe them to increase your trader ranking points, or pay them off so they don't trade the following day.
• HOLD is your upgrade screen! You have a limited number of spaces available for organ storage, but on this screen you can pay to increase that capacity. We'll be doing this a couple of times over the course of the game.
• CARGO shows you your cargo space, and any organs you currently have in there. Sometimes cargo spaces will become damaged, and you'll have to pay to repair a space to make it useable again. Each cargo space holds one organ, regardless of size, quality or type.
• FULFILL shows you any fulfilment requests you currently have outstanding, and gives you the option to complete them if you meet the requirements. Usually you'll be doing that during the action phase, but it's good to look at here and memorise what you need to focus on next.
• TRADE BUTTON (CENTRE SCREEN) immediately moves to the action phase!

Action Phase in Detail

The tabs across the bottom of the screen will now change slightly, and the clock is ticking!

• CARGO has moved to the right of the clock, which is centre screen. This is your hold space and shows you your owned organs.
• BUY is a new screen, and where the bulk of the gameplay lies. This is where you buy your organs! The list will fill up with new organs of different types as the clock counts down, and if other traders are present (indicated by any faces in the top centre of the screen), they'll be buying from the same pool. You can tell when another trader is looking to buy, as the organ will get a surrounding highlight the same colour as the trader's face. You can look at an organ in detail with , or insta-buy your highlighted organ with . The right stick can be used to quick scroll the list up and down, as long as you're currently highlighting an organ.
• REQUEST is a new screen. This is where you can see the list of requests from aliens which need fulfilling in order to gain money and reputation points towards your next trader rank, which unlocks more organs and better paying requests as it increases. You must accept requests from this screen, and the higher your trader rank, the more you can have accepted at once.
• FULFILL is as before, the place where you complete accepted requests. Be sure to accept new requests as you fulfil old ones.

Organ Detail

Organs have several identifying features, which can be seen from the panel which appears when selecting an organ from the BUY or CARGO screens, but is also present in the string of characters appearing to the right of the icon in the BUY list. These are important to note, as they not only influence the monetary value of the organ, but also whether it could fulfil a request or not.

Here are the identifying characteristics of each organ as seen when viewed in detail:

• TYPE is simply which organ you're looking at, and along with the name of the organ each has it's own unique icon too. Over time you'll recognise most, if not all, simply by their icon. There are dozens of organs, from the real to the fantastical.
• SIZE can range from tiny to gigantic. Some requests will ask for a specific size, so pay attention!
• CONDITION is a numerical value ranging from 00-99 which shows the relative state the organ is in. Some requests pertain to condition, so again, keep an eye out!
• BLOOD TYPE is only used occasionally in requests. They are based on real world blood types, from 0+ to AB-.
• RARITY is that specific organs rarity rating. It could be common, mythic, or anything between. These do pop up in requests.

The above details can also be seen at a glance, once you've learned to decode the string of characters which appear to the right of the organ's icon on the BUY screen. From left to right, the characters show the same information you can see by clicking on the organ itself. Here's an example screen so you can see how they correlate:

First of all is the organ's icon. The currently selected organ is Rotcane. To the right if the icon you'll see the organ number for Rotcane (26). This is accompanied by it's size (S is Gigantic, the rest range from A to D, going from biggest to smallest). Then it's the organ's condition, from 00-99, with 99 being the best condition (and thus worth more). You can see the Rotcane's condition is 26. Then we have the organ's matching blood type in parentheses, then a single digit denoting rarity, with higher numbers being rarer. Finally there's a binary digit: 1 means it has special properties. Some organs can damage your cargo space by carrying it and you'll need to repair it after selling the organ. Some improve the condition of other organs around them. If the digit is 0 means it won't have any special properties... It's just meat.

So the highlighted Rotcane looks like this: #25S-26(O+)-4-1

I find the most useful part of this to be the condition - you can immediately see at a glance if it matches any requests you've had or not without having to click on the organ list and check.

How to Make Money and Level Up

1. Check and memorise your outstanding requests from the fulfil screen (if any).
2. Start trading by hitting the trade button centre screen.
3. Accept as many requests as you think you can fulfil.
4. Buy the requested organs as they pop up on the market. If AI traders are present, you'd better get in quick!
5. Fulfil the requests with the organs you've bought, increasing your trader rank and your cash reserves.
6. Repeat from step 3 above.

During the preparation phase, you can can - if you have the cash - invest in the market. Here you can see the price trend of each and every organ. Buy stocks when the prices are low, play the action phase to move the day forward, and sell the stocks when they're higher! This can be a good way to give yourself a future cash injection, but don't leave yourself short - without the readies to buy organs, you won't be able to fulfil requests, which is the meat (oh yeah) of the game.

Things to note!

Some requests will be specific! Pay attention to these to avoid buying unwanted organs. For example, you might get a request for a tiny or gigantic version of an organ, or one which is above or below a specific condition threshold. These have to be fulfilled exactly - if someone wants a large organ (!), they won't be satisfied with anything below OR above that specification.
