Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Chef Hilda Baci, a Nigerian Guinness World Record holder, claims to have started the current trend of Nigerians attempting to make records.
Baci’s non-stop four-day cooking marathon was confirmed by Guinness World Records on Tuesday, 13th June 2023.
The Lagos-based chef began the marathon at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, and completed it on May 15.

In a recent CNN interview, she stated that the success of her cook-a-thon inspired others to start their own marathons. Baci, who is not the first Nigerian to break a record, claims to be a “trailblazer.”
The 26-year-old chef went on to say that she not only inspired Nigerians seeking to break Guinness World Records but also those in other fields.

“I feel like I started a trend or that I am pretty much a trailblazer,” Hilda Baci said, “because only a trailblazer will start something and other people will want to do it.”
“Because it was successful. It was done correctly. And seeing how delicious it is has prompted others to say, ‘I want to try this too.’ It just means that I have influenced someone.
“On social media and in the news, everyone is just seeing people that are trying to break Guinness Records. Other people are trying to break barriers in their lives and businesses as well. So, I think I have inspired a lot of people to push through their own limitations,” she said.

Hilda Baci was named the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual by Guinness World Records in June 2023.
On June 13, 2023, it announced the statement via its official Twitter account after evaluating the evidence. Hilda cooked almost 110 dinners in 100 hours, breaking the previous Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.
GWR, on the other hand, decreased her time by 7 hours for marginally breaching a rule, giving her the official record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes,” they tweeted.
