Hello Bill!

Perhaps the Store Owner thought you had a Transformer that is compatible for your 8902?? A MRC D.C. Transformer would work well for your 8902 or you can order an Electronic Reverse Unit from Lionel also that Changes AC to DC. Brianel is a guru with these type of Engines & I'm sure he would be willing to help out also. Take Care.
