Joseph Then, 65, Passes Away Following Tragic Farming Accident in Randall, Minnesota
A beloved member of the Randall, Minnesota community tragically lost his life this past weekend in a farming accident. Joseph Then, 65, was operating a tractor on his property off of Lakewood Drive in Cushing Township around 11:45 AM on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. As he was working, the tractor struck an underground propane tank valve which triggered an explosion.
Mr. Then sustained severe burns as a result of the blast. He was promptly airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in hopes that his life could be saved. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Joseph's injuries proved to be too extensive. He sadly passed away at the hospital surrounded by his grieving family.
Joseph Then was born on March 11th, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Randall, MN. He operated a successful dairy farm in the Cushing Township area and was highly regarded by his friends and neighbors. Joseph took great pride in his work and loved the farming lifestyle.
He is remembered as a kind, hardworking man who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Joseph had a deep passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV. Some of his favorite activities included camping trips with his family and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.
Above all else, Joseph cherished time spent with his wife, Beverly, their four children, and beloved grandchildren. He was a devoted family man and friend who will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know him.
The tragic nature of this freak accident has shaken the close-knit Randall community. Joseph's passing serves as a solemn reminder of the dangers that farming profession entails. The risks are real despite taking every precaution.
Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Joseph's life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joseph's memory to the Little Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
