As the second quarter of 2022 drew to a close, the estate of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen sold a penthouse and a lower-floor unit (presumably a staff or guest apartment) at the James E.R. Carpenter-designed 4 East 66th Street. The Wall Street Journal announced the sale and noted that if counted as one property, it is the most expensive co-op sale in New York history, beating out the 2015 record of $77.5 million for an apartment at 834 Fifth Avenue on the next block. The property was not publicly listed at the time of the sale, and Page Six just identified the buyer as Julia Koch, philanthropist and widow of David Koch.

Diandra Luker is a film producer, but her real estate dealings have kept her almost as busy as her film projects in recent years. In 2021, her ex-husband Michael Douglas bought her out of the Mallorca estate they bought when they were together. More recently, she sold her Upper East Side townhouse for just under the $17.5 million ask (h/t New York Post).

On the same week that an apartment at Aman New York Residences recorded a $75.89 million sale, one of the highest closed sales of the year, public records showed that Eric Wittouck, a descendant of the family that founded Belgian sugar refinery Tiense Suicker, bought a pied-a-terre in the building. While the family fortune is certainly a factor in Mr. Wittouck's high net worth, Forbes notes that his savvy investments have helped it grow. These now include a Fifth Avenue condo in an acclaimed building.

Professional basketball player and Olympic medalist Carmelo Anthony is a free agent, and there has been much speculation over which team he will join next following a season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Amidst all this, he found time to redesign and relist the High Line apartment he shared with ex-wife La La. When actress/writer Amy Schumer listed her "Upper West Side dream apartment," she teased her next move in a statement to The Wall Street Journal: "If you leave this borough, what borough do people usually move to?
