KUB search pattern: ABCDE's
- Air - evaluate all air lucencies on the study (free air, portal venous gas, pneumobilia, pneumatosis, air in urinary collecting system, etc); all air should be accounted for
- Bowel - evaluate for obstruction; small bowel dilated?, air in colon and rectum?; stomach
- Calcifications - look for kidney/ureteral/bladder calcs, gallstones, pancreatic calcification, vascular calcs, uterine fibroids
- Diaphragm - check lung bases for infilrates, subdiaphragmatic air
- Everything else - liver size, spleen size, kidneys, psoas, bones & soft tissues, ascites, foreign bodies, etc
