Overview

During residency training my research centered on quality improvement with a specific interest in vaccinations as a part of women’s health care. My interest in vaccinations persisted and led to aspirations to work with industry-initiated clinical trials with the aim of bringing novel vaccinations to pregnant women. I am currently a principal investigator on an ongoing RSV vaccine trial for women during pregnancy.

In 2019, I became the Assistant Clerkship Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clerkship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Kansas City Campus which spurred a passion to work towards improving the medical student clerkship experience. I have completed research evaluating student performance in relation to clerkship duration and the impact COVID-19 had on medical student performance. I also mentor residents and students who have a special interest in in student research. In 2021, I transitioned to the role of Clerkship Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at KUMC. One of my principal goals is to continuously work on research that will improve medical student education and experience. In 2021, I was awarded a Medical Alumni Innovative Teaching Fund (MAITF) Grant to develop a Focused Breast Curriculum during the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clerkship.
