CAICH is a National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities funded Center of Excellence to work toward health equity and equality in the American Indian/Alaska Native community in the Heartland.

Using community-based participatory research (CBPR), all efforts to reach health equity among American Indians/Alaska Natives begin within the communities we serve by forming a Community Advisory board (CAB) who sets the course for what health issues are most important for the Center to address.

The CAICH Methods Core, directed by Dr. Byron Gajewski, provides expert and timely methodological development and statistical consulting for CAICH and CAICH-related studies. The core offers support to investigators from CAICH as well as community members for analysis and novel methodological development for clinical trials, observational studies, longitudinal studies, and instrument development, involving visualizing, analyzing, and interpreting data from these studies. Our methodological development includes Bayesian Adaptive clinical trial Design, pile sorting, Bayesian instrument development, and other novel models such as identifying ‘heaping' patterns in the self-report of tobacco use.
