During a masterclass at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol got emotional as he spoke about his film career. He shared that after the success of his movie Gadar, he had no work for several years. Sunny discussed his experiences with his directors Anil Sharma, Rajkumar Santoshi and Rahul Rawail. 

During a conversation with Rahul, Sunny Deol was asked about his journey in Bollywood which started with the movie Betaab in 1983. In response, the actor expressed his gratitude for his good fortune and admitted that he tends to get overly emotional, which can be a challenge for him.

He further expressed his gratitude for starting his career with director Rahul, who gave him the opportunity to act in three films, some of which were successful while others were not. However, these films still hold a special place in people's memories. Despite the massive success of his film Gadar, the actor faced a period of struggle as he was not offered any scripts or roles. Although he did a few films during this time, there was a gap of 20 years. Nevertheless, he never gave up and continued to move forward. His goal was to become an actor, not a star, and he was inspired by the films his father had made and wanted to act in similar films.

Adding to this, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi said, "I believe that the industry has not done justice to Sunny’s talent. But God has done justice." This statement by him left Sunny Deol in tears.

After a gap of 27 years, Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol are teaming up for Lahore 1947, which will be produced by Aamir Khan. The duo has previously collaborated on successful films such as Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993), and Ghatak: Lethal (1996).
