Charles Bronson was born as Charles Dennis Buchinsky on November 3, 1921, in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces in 1943 and served as an aerial gunner during World War II.
After World War II, Charles Bronson pursued a career in acting. He started in New York City and later moved to Hollywood in 1950. Bronson’s early roles were either uncredited or credited as Charles Buchinsky. In 1954, he changed his surname to Bronson after a suggestion from an agent. He appeared in various films and television series throughout the 1950s and 1960s, gradually gaining recognition.

Bronson became a true leading man in Hollywood with his role in the film “Death Wish” at the age of 52. Throughout the 1980s, he starred in numerous action films and became one of the most sought-after actors in the industry.
Charles Bronson was described as shy and introverted. He was not fond of speaking with the media and held grudges against critics and directors who did not pay attention to him early in his career. He was married three times, first to Harriet Tendler and then to actress Jill Ireland. Bronson had seven children in total.

He earned substantial salaries for his movies, including $1 million each for “The Stone Killer,” “Chino,” “Death Wish,” and “St. Ives.” He also received large gross points on some of his films, which proved to be advantageous as the home video rental market grew in the 1980s.
In addition to his net worth from his acting career, Bronson also possessed valuable assets such as real estate. His estate included an $8 million mansion in Malibu, a $5 million beach house in Vermont, and a $5 million mansion in Bel Air.
