Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore picks up after what can only be a few short months following Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Leta Lestrange is dead, sacrificing herself to save the Scamander brothers, and Queenie changing her allegiance to work alongside Grindelwald. Things are relatively dire for Newt and his friends, who are once again recruited by Albus Dumbledore to stop Grindelwald from doing something drastic in a bid for more power.
The Secrets of Dumbledore may be the third in the franchise, but there have been a few changes to the cast and characters, some of whom play smaller roles here than they did in past movies. Eddie Redmayne As Newt Scamander
Newt Scamander is the main protagonist of the Fantastic Beasts movies. He is a magizoologist who works for the British Ministry of Magic, as well as for Albus Dumbledore in his mission to find and defeat Gellert Grindelwald before he starts a war in the magical and muggle worlds. Newt Scamander is a bit of an outcast in the Wizarding World, but he gets by and has a loyal group of friends. Newt is portrayed by Eddie Redmayne, who is best known for his roles in The Theory of Everything, Les Misérables, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Jupiter Ascending, The Other Boleyn Girl, and (of course) the two previous Fantastic Beasts films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Jude Law As Albus Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore is one of the most powerful wizards. During the era of Fantastic Beasts, Dumbledore is a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Dumbledore recruits Newt to help him on his mission against Grindelwald because they have a blood pact that prevents the former lovers from fighting. The younger version of Dumbledore is played by Jude Law, who is best known for his roles in films in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Closer, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Sherlock Holmes, The Young Pope, The Holiday, Anna Karenina, The Aviator, A.I., and Contagion.
