Stars and creators the Wayans brothers have teased the possibility of a sequel to their 2004 comedy White Chicks, and here's what we know so far. Of all the types of art, comedy is likely the most subjective. What makes one person laugh hysterically may well offend someone else, or make another person's eyes roll at its perceived lameness. Thus, comedy movies and TV shows tend to be some of the most divisive around.

For all the millions who loved The Big Bang Theory, there are millions who hate it. Some think The Simpsons is still hilarious after 30-plus years, while others find it to be a shell of its former self. The films of Star Trek's cameo star Tyler Perry make millions, despite a thousand derisive jokes being made about Madea. And of course, there's the legion of fans who support Adam Sandler's current output, despite critical scorn.

That's very much been the case for the career of the various Wayans brothers, and especially their film work. The first two entries in the Scary Movie franchise made a boatload of cash, despite many finding their vulgar, throw-everything-at-the-wall comedy style to be off-putting. Even Little Man doubled its budget. Yet, their biggest cult success has to be White Chicks, a 2004 comedy with people who think it's one of the stupidest movies ever, and fans who find it to be a charming bout of silly fun, like the aforementioned Scary Movie, with Jamie Lee Curtis almost cameoing. White Chicks 2 has been teased several times, but will it happen?

Will White Chicks 2 Happen?

While it's unclear if White Chicks 2 will actually happen, it certainly seems likely, at least in the sense that all the major players want it to. Co-star and co-writer Marlon Wayans has repeatedly expressed interest in making a White Chicks 2 over the years, and in 2019, Terry Crews - who played the original's most memorable supporting role - revealed that a sequel was happening. Unfortunately for fans, Marlon then backpedaled on that, saying the deal wasn't done yet. Still, that confirms that talks are at least taking place.

White Chicks 2 Release Date

Unsurprisingly, since White Chicks 2 isn't a sure thing yet, it's hard to predict when the sequel might release. Still, since it's a comedy, the shooting duration would probably be short. This is despite the plethora of coronavirus-induced movie delays, and taking into consideration how long the daily process of applying the makeup to the Wayans brothers that transforms them into white women takes. If filming starts in early 2022, a release before the end of the year is certainly possible.
