It's been just over a week since John Cena and Nikki Bella shocked the WWE Universe by announcing their breakup - less than a month before they were set to tie the knot in Mexico.
Cena and Bella were one of the most popular WWE power couples, having been together for six years. Their relationship was a focal point on the reality show, Total Bellas, and the two certainly looked like they'd stay together forever.
But the two just weren't able to make things work, and they mutually agreed to call off the engagement and end the relationship. We've already heard Brie Bella talk about the breakup, but this time Cena opened up about it with reporters at CinemaCon in Vegas (h/t) TMZ Sports):
"It's a tough time but that's life. We all go through highs and we all go through lows. I'm gonna get through it. I love her. I'll always love her. The fact that my heart hurts for her. I know I was in love. So, I'll always have that."
Nearly a week after their breakup, Nikki broke her silence with his Instagram post:
In a recent interview with People, Brie mentioned that her twin sister is "good, they call her fearless Nikki for a reason," but admitted that the latest seasons of Total Bellas was "the hardest" to film. Brie also said that this upcoming season will detail the complications in Cena and Bella's relationship, which will give more insight on how the breakup happened.
Following his divorce from wife of three years, Elizabeth Huberdeau, Cena had vowed that he wouldn't get married again. However, he proposed to Bella after they defeated The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33, and even admitted that he had changed his mind and was considering having kids.
But another source told People that Cena got "cold feet" as the wedding date drew nearer, and that it was clear he wasn't going to be able to make enough sacrifices to make the relationship work with Nikki.
