Peter Martin was an English actor who lived from December 1941 until April 19, 2023. He portrayed Len Reynolds in Emmerdale (2001–2007) and Joe Carroll in The Royle Family (1998–2012). Additionally, appeared in numerous additional theatrical and television productions.

The actor rose to fame in the 1980s because of his roles in TV commercials for the Jewson hardware store. He played the fish shop owner in First of the Summer Wine, among other roles. He also had a role in the Beiderbecke Tapes as “Charlie the moonlighting gravedigger.”

He played Joe Carroll in The Royle Family. Additionally, he appeared in the movies Brassed Off and Last of the Summer Wine in addition to the TV shows Chucklevision, Coronation Street, Playing the Field, Victoria Wood, and All Creatures Great and Small.

Martin started performing as Len Reynolds in the ITV serial drama Emmerdale in 2001. Len, played by Martin, will be killed off, it was revealed in May 2007, as Martin had agreed to play Captain Mainwaring in a stage version of Dad’s Army.
