Larch does not need treating but I love the colour of it and to ensure we can see it for a very long time we’ve treated it with Clear Carefree Protectant. Of course, being made from Larch you do not have to treat it, it is a very oily, resinous and dense wood that does not need any maintenance.
Does larch cladding change colour?
Despite having a high resin content — giving it excellent natural durability — as your larch cladding is exposed to the Great British weather, it can slowly change colour.

How do you keep larch from going GREY?

Is larch better than pine?
The structural properties of Siberian Larch are far superior to treated pine and really are better than any softwood out there. Siberian Larch is the hardest softwood around. It is not like plantation grown pine that is being timbered after a few years of growth.

Quite a lot of houses are built up here with timber cladding, often only partly clad (and then usually partly rendered) A common alternative to doing nothing is to “paint” them, with light green or light blue being popular colours.
