Can you put a tub surround over ceramic tile?

Tub surrounds can sometimes be installed over existing tile, but only when conditions are right. The old tile area needs to be smaller than the kit and you’ll need to build up the surrounding wall to the level of the tile, usually with 1/4-in. drywall. All things considered, removing the tiles is often a better option.

Can you glue a shower surround to tile?

Apply strong adhesive to the tile and the wall. Leave at least 1/4 inch edge around the installation area. Once the adhesive is in place, install the shower surround. Make sure that the holes line up with the faucet, bars, and shower head prior to pressing down on the surround.
