Sand was a resource later introduced in Ark with the arrival of the Scorched Earth Map, following later to be included in Ragnarok, Extinction, Valguero, Genesis Part 1, and Crystal Isles.

This resource can be collected in different ways which may vary across some of the maps in Ark and later on can be used for crafting a few items.

One of the more important uses of Sand is for crafting a Boomerang for taming and later on a Tek Crop Plot when you have advanced to later phases.

How to Gather Sand?

Sand can be harvested from yellowish stone, which is common in certain maps such as Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, and more.

Using a Pick will allow you to break the stone and provide you with Sand and other resources such as Stone and Metal.

Piles of sand may also be obtained by picking them up or using a Whip, such as on the Ragnarok Map when at Viking Bay.

In Crystal Isles, there are Anthills from which players may harvest Sand, but it is important to be careful of surrounding enemies.

Sand Uses

Sand can be used to craft mostly items that were introduced with the arrival of Scorched Earth, and later on one item from Genesis Part 2.

One of the more important items is the Boomerang, which needs Sand and is used as an early method for taming creatures.

Adobe Structures require Clay, which is crafted with sand, making it even more important when players tend to build such structures.
