One of the more valuable resources that players can find in Ark is Crystal, a clear and slightly rare find resource that is used for more advanced items.

Being a rarer resource, it is always best to harvest as much as you can, especially if you are far away from its farming location.

While Crystal is valuable, it is also heavy, making it even harder to collect for those who have just started or lack means of carrying items.

How to Get Crystal?

Crystal can be obtained by using specific creatures that can attack rocks and other minerals or by using a Pick or Mining Drill.

Few creatures can harvest Crystal, the more common ones being an Ankylosaurus, Mantis, or a Dunkleosteus when underwater.

Using a Pick is the most common way when first starting out but later on it is logical to tame a creature to make harvesting easier.

It is possible to obtain Crystal by harvesting the dead bodies of Rock Elementals, but killing them may be a bit tedious, and a Giganotosaurus is recommended.

Best Way to Get Crystal

The best way to Get crystal is to use an Ankylosaurus or a Mantis that is equipped with a Pick, but later on, when you can make one, a Mining Drill is a better option.

An Ankylosaurus is a good creature to use and even better when you have another player carrying it with a flyer so that one player will attack with Ankylosaurus while the other flies them around.

Using an Argentavis is a good early game technique to bring your overweight Ankylosaurus around and you can even store Crystal in its inventory for reduced weight.
