James Franklin McIngvale, famed for his nickname Mattress Mack is the founder and owner of Houston-based largest retail chain, Gallery Furniture.

In 2013, Jim was undergoing a heart procedure. He posted a photo of himself on Facebook on September 26 in a hospital bed, announcing suffering from atrial fibrillation or an abnormal heartbeat.
In his surgery on August 29, Jim tweeted he had to repair a patent foramen ovale, or PFO, a congenital condition that happens when a hole in the heart.
The business, however, has not confirmed his diagnosis of Cancer.
His daughter, Elizabeth, was diagnosed and struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and became the founder of the Peace of Mind foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to OCD.

The businessman is teaming up with doctors Bud Frazier and Daniel Timms to develop a lightweight machine called the BiVACOR.
