The body of the Hatayspor sporting director was found close to the area where the body of Hatayspor midfielder Christian Atsu was discovered last week. He had been missing from 6 February.
Savut and Atsu were both buried beneath the debris of an opulent residential structure. A 7.8 Magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria on 6 February 2023.
The sporting director was also a former football player who played as the right back with several teams over 17 years. After discovering the former athlete’s body, there was considerable curiosity about his personal and professional life.

Sozcu reported that the former footballer’s spouse repeatedly sought help via her social media. The sporting director’s wife asked, “Where are you when Taner is under the rubble?” in response to Volkan Demirel and other club managers leaving Hatay.
“I didn’t even get a phone call,” Pinar Savut remarked. Taner Savut was left along. “Taner came to Hatayspor for you, leaving his two daughters and me behind in Izmir. I can’t bear this pain.”
In her first social media post, Pinar Savut said, “Bravo to everyone for leaving Hatayspor when sporting director Taner Savut is under the dent in Rönesans Residence.”
She also disclosed that Taner didn’t call her to ask about their children even once. My spouse is still under the rubble; I can’t hear from any official,” Mrs. Savut added.
“Bravo Volkan Demirel and Hatayspor. Taner devoted all of his time to you. It’s a terrible shame. Captain leaves the ship last, but you left first,” Pinar wrote in her same post.

Addressing the Hatayspor management, coach Pinar asked, “Where are you when Taner is under the rubble? Why am I not sought after? Why is no explanation given to me? Why did you leave my Taner under the rubble?”
“Did My so deserve this? I am experiencing indescribable pain. I am trying to get news from Hatayspor with my means. I can’t hear from anyone. My Taner, my kind-hearted husband, you never deserved this,” the wife continued.
