Robert Gérard Goulet, an actor and singer, was born on November 26, 1933, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA. He was the son of Georges Andre Goulet and Jeanette Gauthier Goulet. Claire Goulet was his sister. His parents both worked in mills, and his father was also an amateur singer and wrestler.
Goulet’s father died while he was only thirteen years old. Following the incident, he and his mother, along with his sister Claire, relocated to Girouxville, Alberta, where he spent the rest of his adolescence. After a few years, they moved to Edmonton, where he studied voice and later worked as a radio announcer for CKUA.
In 1952, Goulet competed in CBC Television’s Pick The Stars, where he reached the semifinals. Later in his career, he appeared on series such as Singing Stars of Tomorrow, Juliette, and Opportunity Knocks, among others.
