William Edward Fichtner Jr. was born on November 27, 1956, on Mitchel Air Force Base in New York, under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. Fichtner is of German origin and is of American nationality.
Patricia, Pamela, Margaret, and Mary Fichtner, all sisters, were reared by his parents, Patricia A. and William E. Fichtner, in Cheektowaga, New York.
Fichtner graduated from Maryvale High School in 1974 and went on to Farmingdale State College two years later to receive an associate degree in criminal justice. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from SUNY Brockport in 1978.
He also went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York to study acting. Don Harvey, a Farmingdale State College admissions advisor, encouraged Fichtner’s decision to pursue acting, according to him. After seeing Broadway musicals in New York City, he became more interested in performing. In May 2008, Farmingdale State College bestowed upon him an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Career of William Fichtner
In 1994, William Fichtner made his Hollywood debut in Robert Redford’s historical film Quiz Show. His acting in the film received a lot of praise from critics and fans. He appeared in five films the next year: Reckless, Heat, Strange Days, Heat, and Underneath.
Fichtner went on to star in a number of films, including Contact, Go, The Settlement, The Perfect Strom, Drowning, Passion of Mind, Black Hawk Down, Crash, Nine Lives, Blades of Glory, First Snow, The Big Bang, and Krystal.
As of 2018, he is starring as Enzo Rotella in Finding Steve McQueen and as Ted Markham in Cold Brook. He also worked on Cold Brook as a director and co-writer.
