Weston James Earl McKennie, better known by his nickname McKennie, is an American professional football player who currently plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Juventus on loan from Bundesliga club Schalke 04, as well as the United States national team. In 2004, he began playing soccer for the local team FC Phonix Otterbach. For seven years, he was a member of FC Dallas’ development system, from 2009 to 2016. In August 2016, he joined the Schalke 04. youth team in the Bundesliga. He was promoted to the first-team squad in May 2017 and made his professional debut on May 20, 2017. On August 29, 2020, he signed a one-year loan with Serie A side Juventus, making him Juventus’ first and Serie A’s sixth player from the United States.
He has represented the United States at the international level with numerous young teams, including the U17 and U20 national teams. He received his first senior team call-up for the United States’ friendly against Portugal on November 14, 2017, and scored in his debut.
