Family and Childhood

June Beth (née Oberer) and Bernard Julian Fieger raised Fieger in Oak Park, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit, Michigan. Geoffrey Fieger was born to a Jewish father and a Norwegian mother.

In 1976, he received his B.A. (Theater) and M.A. (Speech) degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and in 1979, he received his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law (now the Michigan State University College of Law).

Fieger and his wife Kathleen live in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, with their three children. Fieger is the older brother of Doug Fieger, the late lead vocalist of the late 1970s/early 1980s rock band The Knack, best known for their 1979 hit song “My Sharona.”
