Early Life and Education
Susanna Reid, also known as Sussana Victoria Reid, was born in Croydon, Greater London, England, on December 10, 1970. She is the youngest of three daughters in the family. When she was nine years old, her parents split. Her mother was a nurse and her father was a management consultant.
Her upbringing was full of ups and downs since she was too young to comprehend what was going on around her, such as why her parents were divorcing and why she had to change schools so frequently. That’s when she resolved to work her way up from the bottom as a child. Susanna Reid attended the independent Croham Hurst School from 1975 to 1981, Croydon High School from 1981 to 1987, and St. Pauls Girls School in London from 1987 to 1989. Reid attended the University of Bristol from 1989 to 1992, where he studied Politics, Philosophy, and Law.
Reid was also the editor of Epigram, a student newspaper at the University of Bristol that was nominated for “Best Student Newspaper” in The Guardians/NUS student media award in 1991. She also attended Cardiff School of Journalism for a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism. Reid made her stage debut in a play adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Spiderweb in 1982.
