Pierre Morad Omidyar, also known as Pierre Omidyar, is a billionaire, computer scientist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur from the United States. With e-initial Bay’s IPO, the company’s founder and chairman from 1998 to 2015 became a billionaire.

According to Forbes, Omidyar’s net worth is $25.4 billion as of 2021. When eBay went public in 1998, he became a billionaire at the age of 31.
During Omidyar’s tenure as chairman of eBay, the company purchased PayPal in 2002. He presently owns 5% of eBay, which has a market valuation of more than $27.2 billion. He also owns 6% of PayPal, a company with a market valuation of $83 billion.

In 2004, Omidyar launched Omidyar Network, a philanthropic organization into which he invested $1.4 billion. He has promised to contribute a large portion of his fortune to charity.
In addition, the benefactor owns resorts in southern California and Mexico. He owns property in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, that is now under construction. He also owns properties in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Henderson, Nevada.

Following his graduation from Tufts University, Omidyar worked for Claris, an Apple Computer subsidiary. He was part of the team that improved MacDraw to MacDraw II at the time.
Ink Development, a pen-based computing firm, was co-founded by the computer science graduate. It was then renamed eShop and rebranded as an e-commerce startup. On June 11, 1996, Microsoft purchased eShop for $50 million, from which he got $1 million.

Before the sale of eShop, in 1995, at the age of 28, he began building a codebase for an online venue that would allow a person to do personal sales. The site was launched as Auction Web on September 4, 1995. In 1997, Omidyar renamed the auction online as eBay. The site was hosting 800,000 auctions every day at the time.
In September 1998, eBay conducted its Initial Public Offering (IPO), making Omidyar a billionaire.
