Early Years of Robert Kiyosaki

Robert Kiyosaki was born in the Hilo district of Hawaii on April 8, 1947, to Ralph H. Kiyosaki and Marjorie O. Kiyosaki. He attended the prestigious Hilo High School, where he was claimed to have graduated in 1965. He was offered the opportunity to join the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York because of his brilliance, and he graduated as a successful deck officer in 1969.

Robert was quickly hired after graduation by Standard Oils, from which he transferred to the Marine Corps in 1972 as a Helicopter Gunship Pilot. The Air Medal was duly presented to him for his service in the Vietnam War. He was dismissed from the Marine Corps with all due respect and honor a year later, having enrolled for an MBA at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

However, in 1977, Kiyosaki founded his own company, Rippers, which was recognized for introducing nylon and was featured in various publications. He had to start a retail shop after the corporation ran into the red. Unfortunately, even this was doomed to fail, prompting him to start a business in teaching. After selling his third firm in 1994, Kiyosaki founded Cashflow Technologies Inc., which is now responsible for Rich Dad and the other Cashflow brands.
