Early childhood development and education

Lorraine (née Bladis) and John Paul Dizzia have a daughter named Dizzia. She was born and raised in the town of Cranford, New Jersey. Her sister works as a lawyer. She graduated from Kent Place School in 1993 and was awarded the Drama Award. She attended Cornell University and majored in theatre. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a Master of Fine Arts degree.

From June 18, 2007 to August 26, 2007, Dizzia played Eurydice in the Sarah Ruhl play Eurydice in regional theatre and Off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theatre. From October 22, 2009 to January 10, 2010, she appeared on Broadway in another Sarah Ruhl production, In the Next Room, at the Lyceum Theatre. Her performance won her a nomination for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 2010.

Dizzia starred in the Yale Repertory Theatre’s premiere production of Amy Herzog’s play Belleville, which ran from October 21 to November 12, 2011. From March 3, 2013 to April 14, 2013, she performed in the play Off-Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop. She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Play in 2013.

Dizzia has appeared in recurring roles on TV shows such as Orange is the New Black and 13 Reasons Why. In film, she starred in Martha Marcy May Marlene, which received critical acclaim, and in 2019, she starred in the Academy Award-winning short The Neighbors’ Window.
