In 2002, his first single, “Colourblind,” peaked at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2002 and 2003, his next songs, “Rushes” and “Incredible (What I Meant to Say),” debuted in the UK’s top ten. After participating in the 2001 premiere of “Popstars” and the 2002 premiere of the ITV talent competition “Pop Idol,” he gained notoriety.
In addition, he played the major part of Sky Masterson in the Olivier Award-winning “Guys and Dolls,” the role of Billy Flynn in the West End production of “Chicago,” and the original Rhett Butler in Sir Trevor Nunn’s stage adaptation of “Gone with the Wind.” He took on the starring role of Escamillo, Carmen’s lover, at the age of 29.
The “The History of the Big Bands” tour featured him as well. In 2003, he published “Darius: Sink or Swim, My Story.” He tragically passed unexpectedly on August 11, 2022, at his Rochester, Minnesota, residence.
